Positive Messages
a little
Family, legacy, and good versus evil are all themes. The role of the supernatural is also central to the series.
-
Positive Role Models
very little
The first JoJo Joestar was committed to stopping Dio, but some of his descendants are unexpectedly caught up in this mission unexpectedly. Dario was an unscrupulous thief, and his son, albeit more charming, follows in his footsteps.
-
Diverse Representations
very little
Different volumes feature characters from different places, including England, Italy, and Japan, but most don't feature a lot of racial/ethnic distinctions. The descendants named JoJo are mostly male; in later generations at least one is a woman.

A Great Anime With Animated Violence
This is a great anime thst follows a bloodline throughout their awesome adventures. It contains great Role-Models, especially the first Main Character and it is very enjoyable. It does contain blood but it is an anime not real people. I highly reccommend!!

Great but... Edgy
If your son can handle gore than this is good minor profanity but it was AMAZING! (no modern weapons)

What's the Story?
Based on the manga series of the same name, JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE is a multipart anime series that chronicles the adventures of the Joestar family. The tale begins in late 19th century Victorian England, when wealthy landowner George Joestar mistakenly believes that he is indebted to a common thief named Dario Brando. Years later, Joestar takes in Brando's son Dio as a foster son with plans to raise him along with his biological son Jonathan, a.k.a. "JoJo." But Dio Brando is only interested in becoming the Joestar heir, and later, after using the ancient Stone Mask, transforms into a vampire with plans to take over the world. JoJo is committed to stopping Dio, and learns Hamon, a martial art form that will allow him, and the generations of "JoJos" after him, to fight against the family's evil enemy.
Is It Any Good?
Our review:
Parents say (16):
Kids say (56):
The series is a multigenerational story that follows descendants of Joestars as they use supernatural forces to fight an archenemy that has impacted the trajectory of their family's legacy. While some of the narrative, which is broken down into nine individual story arcs that stretch from the 1880s to the 2000s, seems relatively straightforward, there are lots of plot lines that are (you guessed it!) very bizarre. But as viewers follow the generations of the Joestar family (all of whom are named a variation of JoJo) contending with the evil Dio and his descendants, they are also treated to lots of Western pop culture references and mystical events. It's this unique combination that makes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure uniquely entertaining.
