GLASS(Daldoss) - Dolores Jean

On Monday, June 24, 2024 Dolores left this earthly world to rejoin the love of her life, Don Glass who left for heaven 57 years earlier. She is now in her splendor with her husband Don, her son Eric, and her family members who have gone before her.

She was the youngest daughter of and is preceded in death by her parents Emma (Audo) and Anthony Bellavia, her son Eric C Glass, her uncle Charles Bellavia, her sister Josephine “Dolly” Bellavia, her niece Toni-Renee (Putt) Anderson, her sister Rita Hnatkovich, and her brother-in-laws Gerald McConnell and Stephen Hnatkovich. She is survived by her oldest son John A (Mary Ellen) Glass and their children, Donald “Bruce” Glass, Jacqueline (Daniel) Neighbors and their children, her great-grandchildren, Davis and Silas Neighbors, and Alexa Glass; her son Eric’s children Jared (Sami) Glass and their children, also her great-grandchildren, Kevin, Autumn, and Gannon Glass; her youngest child and only daughter, who was named after her mother, Audia (Jamie) Boyles, and her granddaughter Alexandra “Alex” Boyles, or better known by her as “Rosebud.” She is also survived by her oldest sister Lillian McConnell, oldest niece Emily McConnell-Moore, her niece Toni’s husband, Mark Anderson and their daughter Stephenie (John) Scialabba, and their son Theodore.

Dolores was first and foremost a kind heart and mother. She raised her three children with pride and hope. She returned to college at St. Francis University, Loretto, PA after the passing of her husband to pursue a degree in Elementary Education and Library Science. Upon graduation she took a postition at Jackson Elementary with Central Cambria School District, teaching 3rd grade. She then moved into the position of Librarian/Library Science Teacher at Central Cambria Middle School. This is where she impacted so many students’ lives and her legacy took form. She closed out her long-time career providing education, support and love to her students at all three CC schools (CC Middle School, CC Elementary School, and Jackson/Mundy’s Corner Elementary School).

Upon retirement “Mrs. D” enjoyed shopping, and buying things in threes, watching movies in the evening while eating popcorn, walking for miles and bringing things to her children. In the later years, after her health issues began, she moved in with her daughter Audia, son-in-law Jamie, and granddaughter Alex, who was only 6 years old at the time. She spent the next 16 years in their care. Although she longed for her independence and the ability to walk and drive, she navigated her health with grace and strength. As family friends would come and go, as healthcare workers attended to her, and as social interactions occurred at her home with her daughter, she continued to impact the lives of others with her gentle heart.

She will be greatly missed. We so love you “Mom”, “Grandma D”, “Momma II”, “Gram”, “Dolores”, “D”, and “Mrs. D”. Fly high with the angels, and only live in the light.

Finally, her family would like to acknowledge and thank the following individuals: Her son John for being her rock and best friend in the immediate years after losing her husband and children’s dad; her niece Emily, sister Lillian, and friend Joe Luther for staying with her when her daughter and family had to go out of town, and for taking her out shopping and ending the day at the Chinese restaurant; her grandchildren Bruce, Jackie, Lexie, Jared, and Nick for loving her unconditionally; Terri Dixon who sat many hours with her and continued to nurture the everlasting bond that began when Terri’s mom passed many years ago; Dr. Molly Trostle who provided not only her medical care, but a love and understanding of her that had begun when Dr. Trostle was her student; Becky Sefcik, Bill Leary and many others from Conemaugh Home Health and Mary Ann Ramires, Sammy Brady, and many others from 365 Hospice who lovingly assisted with navigating her health needs; Jamie and Alex Boyles for all of your love for mom, for embracing a life of caretaking, and loving her; and last but not least, you mom, for always being a guide for us all to “do the right thing.”

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m, Friday at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Brian Warchola, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
