As the adopted son of the Wine tycoon Ragnivdr family, Kaeya is Diluc's brother by all but blood. Rather than play a part in the family business, however, Kaeya serves Jean as the Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius - though wine tasting remains a hobby. He believes everyone should learn to appreciate the fine wine Mondstadt produces, seeing it as a gift from the Anemo Archon.

His diligence in his role as Cavalry Captain means Kaeya is inherently helpful on the battlefield. As one of the first free characters you're given access to, his Cyro skills can ease the pressure of enemies big and small by slowing them down or freezing them outright.
Kaeya is a free 4-star character that you'd receive by just progressing the story. If you're interested in his constellations, you're going to have to wish on the Standard Banner
Combat Details
Kaeya's purpose on the battlefield is to apply cryo as much as possible. As one of the few cryo sub DPS characters, he's exceptional in that sense. His elemental skill and especially elemental burst are where he shines since it can trigger various elemental reactions that can prove beneficial for the party.
Kaeya's Talents and Skill Priorities
Kaeya is a great sub DPS character to have especially in the first parts of the game. His elemental burst is where he shines. Thus, his skill priorities should be:

Kaeya's Constellations
Kaeya's early constellations can get a little confusing, making it seem like he's meant to be a main DPS. But his latter ones tell a different story. The ones to look out for are C2 and C6.

| Frozen Kiss (C4) | Triggers automatically when Kaeya's HP falls below 20%: Creates a shield that absorbs damage equal to 30% of Kaeya's Max HP. Lasts for 20s. This shield absorbsCryoDMG with 250% efficiency. Can only occur once every 60s. |

Kaeya doesn't function just as a sub DPS. He's also a really great batter with his Fourth Ascension Passive. However, this only functions when the opponent is frozen so keep that in mind when having Kaeya in your party.
Best Weapons for Kaeya
Kaeya has a bunch of options for weapons, here are some of the best ones.

| Freedom-Sworn | A part of the "Millennial Movement" that wanders amidst the winds. Increases DMG by10%. When the character wielding this weapon triggers Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s and can be triggered even if said character is not on the field. When you possess 2 Sigils of Rebellion, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" for 12s. "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG by16% and increases ATK by20%. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Rebellion for 20s. |
| Skyward Blade | Crit Rate increased by4%. Gains Skypiercing Might upon using Elemental Burst: Increases Movement SPD by 10%, increases ATK SPD by 10%, and Normal and Charged hits deal additional DMG equal to20% of ATK. Skypiercing Might lasts for 12s. |
| Alley Flash | Increases DMG dealt by the character equipping this weapon by12%. Taking DMG disables this effect for 5s. |

Best Artifacts for Kaeya
Much like his weapons, this is going to depend on what kind of team composition he's joining. However, the generalist build for him would be 2 piece Blizzard Strayer and 2 piece Noblesse Oblige.
