Alexis, Gregory and Violet shop for trees, and Violet is on the lookout for a special one. Meanwhile, Robert helps Diane shop for a tree as well. Alexis runs into them and Robert explains he’s helping Diane pick out a tree. Alexis never knew her to have one before. Diane calls it the start of a new tradition.

Gregory and Violet bump into them, and Gregory calls running into Diane an unfortunate coincidence. Diane and Robert walk off, and Violet wonders who that lady is. Alexis sends her off to look at more trees, and Alexis asks Gregory if that was necessary.
Meanwhile, Robert asks Diane about that exchange, and she explains her latest case to him involving Gregory’s son Finn. Robert suggests they take off and find something warm.
Elsewhere. Alexis lets Gregory know that Diane is a shark, but she’s not heartless, and frankly based on the details of the case she’ll probably win. Gregory thought she believed in Finn. Alexis says she is looking at this from a legal perspective and there is an argument to be made that Finn should have done more tests on Muldoon, and Diane is going to make that argument. She explains facts matter, but in the end, the winner is the one who makes the best argument to the jury. She lets him know she is on Finn’s side and even helped him prepare for the deposition.
Violet reappears, and Alexis asks if she’s found the tree. She found a beautiful tree but thinks someone else should take it. She wants a tree that’s not so perfect so she can give that one a home.

At Curtis’ place, Marshall and Curtis decorate the tree, and Marshall finds an ornament that Marshall’s late wife Irene made for their first Christmas. Curtis never knew that’s what the ornament was for, as Marshall tells him the story of it and hangs it on the tree. Curtis says that his mom always loved Christmas and thinks it’s why he loves it.
Portia arrives home and can’t believe they decorated the tree and it looks so beautiful. Marshall leaves them, saying he wants to sit out on the porch. She suggests he take a blanket. Curtis tells Portia that he and his dad reminisced about their family, and he told him a story about a very special ornament.

Marshall goes to sit outside and is visited by his late wife’s spirit. She sits by him and touches his hand and suggests he bundle up in that blanket or he’ll catch his death out here. Marshall reflects on all the Christmases he missed and wonders why he ever left. He thinks he was afraid of being less than in her eyes, but it was all over a misdiagnosis. He breaks down, and Irene tells him he’s been given the gift of a clean bill of health and reconnected with his son. She urges him to reflect on what he has, not what has been.
As Marshall continues to lament his regrets, Irene wishes he would let it go. She says she was angry at first when he left, but she let it go and focused on her boys. He touches her face, and she says she missed him, but couldn’t waste her life wondering what could have been. She loved her life, and living it, and that’s what she wants for him. She wants him to be thankful for the life he has, and their son who needs him. She is thankful he is here for their son now, and he needs to enjoy this Christmas and those to come, and she’ll be with him enjoying them all too. Irene then vanishes.
Back inside, Curtis and Portia enjoy some mulled wine, and Portia reveals she has something special for him, an early present. There is a chance he could walk again. She tells him of a new study and trial, and Curtis wonders if this is a possibility for him.
Portia explains the procedure is in early human trials, but she submitted his name as he’s the perfect candidate based on their criteria and they are considering him to be part of the trial. She says there is no guarantee he’ll walk again, but this is a chance. He thanks her and they kiss.

Lucy meets Scott at the new French café. Scott vents that Obrecht is jumping from conference to conference to avoid him lately. He’s thankful to have a friend in her, and she tells him that they see each other for who they are. She wants what is best for him, and she thinks they’ve come to understand they are better as friends than lovers.
As they reminisce there is flirtatious banter between the two. Scott still feels the spark between them, but Lucy says they are just feeling the nostalgia, and she’s with Marty now and he’s hoping to get back with Obrecht. Lucy says she has to go and thanks him for the conversation. Scott says he’ll catch her later, and she leaves.

Dante and Anna meet at the morgue, and he explains he got the final arson report on her house. She asks if it was Charlotte. He says nothing indicates it was Charlotte, and they have pinpointed another suspect. They found fabric on the bushes outside of her home with the accelerant used in the fire, and DNA on the fabric matched Forsythe. She realizes he was probably there the night Charlotte was sho too, and took the report after the police left, but what happened to it? Anna believes Forsythe wasn’t acting alone and someone else is involved, likely someone named in the report. The M.E. enters and reveals if they are here about the Forsythe body unfortunately it is gone.
The M.E. explains the WSB came, took the body, and classified all the reports, including his autopsy. Dante checks and they even locked the arson report on her house. The M.E. tells them speaking of arson, the victim had a burn on his left leg. Dante asks him not to mention this to anyone, but he has no one to tell thanks to the WSB. He hopes someone can reign them in for this abuse of power.
The M.E. leaves, and Anna thinks someone at the WSB is trying to cover this up. Anna tells Dante she’ll take this from here because this is someone high up in the WSB chain. Dante won’t let her do this on her own, but she won’t put anyone else she cares about in danger. She insists she goes this alone and walks out. Dante then takes the locker key found on Forsythe by the M.E. out of his pocket.

Brennan returns to Kelly’s and makes small talk with Carly. Carly hangs out with him as he orders some food, and she asks how he is enjoying Port Charles. He says the people are friendly and he’s getting to know the town. She inquires how long he’ll be in town. He isn’t sure and says his visit is open-ended. He has a mess to untangle with the help of a security consultant, and Carly assumes that means he’s a spy or ex-military. He claims he’s not and asks why she says that. She tells him her ex-husband uses security consultants in his business.
Diane and Robert arrive, so Carly excuses herself from Brennan to greet them. The couple orders some hot chocolates to go, and Brennan tries to shield his face from Robert. Later as Robert and Diane head out, Carly goes to take Brennan his order but sees he is gone.
Brennan returns later and apologizes to Carly, claiming he got a call on his satellite phone and the reception was dicey so he had to step out. He came back to apologize and offers her a bouquet as part of his apology. She thanks him but says it’s not necessary. He offers to take her out to dinner, but she explains she’s seeing someone. He says of course she is, and it’s his loss. She realizes he didn’t come for the food, did he? He admits he didn’t and exits.
On the next General Hospital: Brook Lynn and Chase make an announcement to their friends and family. Lois calls something a disaster and Olivia agrees. Kristina thinks she didn’t think something through. TJ asks Molly if she’s sure they want to do this. Violet welcomes Finn and Liz to look at their tree. Anna tells Valentin they’ll never know as he didn’t give her a choice. On a plane, Tracy looks at her phone, gasps and cries. Is this the beginning of the show’s farewell to Bobbie?
